What did you do this past week?

This week I worked on the project for this class with my group for a little bit since the brunt of my week was taken up by another project I had for a different class. The other project was for CS 354R, and it was mostly supposed to be an introductory project, but I slightly procrastinated on it. However, after something clicked, I completed it quickly. As for my non-CS courses, I had to write a paper for my music class, and I attended my Japanese course as normal.

What’s in your way?

I need to work on the project for this class as well as the next project for my other CS course. I also have an exam online that I need to complete for my Japanese course. Learning the way to program my CS projects will hopefully not prove to be too difficult.

What will you do next week?

I will be working with my team members of both CS 373 and CS 354R to complete our projects’ milestones and phases. I will also be studying for and completing my Japanese exam. I will be attending classes as normal.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #5: Pair Programming?

This is the third time I have read this paper. I still think that the tips that the writers make are important to implement into working on code.

What was your experience of Python’s object model, list, tuple, set, dict, and iterators? (this question will vary, week to week)

I thought that the open object model that Python had was interesting. I always thought that Python was a simpler programming language due to not requiring the use of types for variables, but this component of Python seems more complex than the closed model that a programming language like Java has. Keeping track of the variables a class actually has seems like it will be difficult, but it also opens up more utility for classes.

I have seen and used lists, tuples, sets, and dicts in a previous CS course, but I did not get to analyze their properties in a class before, so that was interesting. I also saw and used iterators before, so the refresher on how they work was great.

What made you happy this week?

Making my project for CS 354R work was very satisfying to do. Seeing my project work among the hours of seeing small problems make it malfunction made me happy.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

As a person who plays games on Linux, the tool, Proton, is invaluable for me to play Steam games on Linux that only have Windows support. Here is the github:
